As part of my job as an Army private in chemical operations, I was taught some basic facts about nuclear war. Besides
how to used a radiation meter or being able to report "flash to bang time", I was made aware of the strategy of
MADD-Mutual Assured Destruction. That if the Soviets and the Americans would go to war, the nuclear obliteration of our
cities where we live would be guaranteed-supposedly making nuclear war unthinkable. But I told myself "WHAT WOULD HAPPEN
IF A BIG ENOUGH MADMAN CAME TO POWER IN EITHER WASHINGTON OR MOSCOW AND ACTUALLY STARTED WORLD WAR III?

Bulletin of Atomic Scientists' website featuring the Doomsday Clock said it is FIVE MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT until
the world breaks out into nuclear war. Certainly The Book of Revelation and Revelation 9 suggest that
the present war in Iraq might draw in forces from Russia and/or China and start World War III-sort of a prelude to Armageddon.
This one would only kill one-third of mankind. but that is still 2 Billion lives! Armageddon will kill even more than
that! THE BIBLE PREDICTS TWO MAJOR NUCLEAR WARS-THE ONE IN REVELATION 9 WITH THE KINGS OF THE EAST AND THEIR WEAPONS
OF SMOKE, FIRE AND BRIMSTONE. AND THE JUDGMENT AT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST!
The Nuclear Age began
when the United States dropped atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan to bring about the end of World War II in the
Pacific. But within 20 years, Russia, China, England and France all obtained their nuclear bombs. At the height of the Cold
War, the US had 30,000 Hydrogen Bombs and the Soviets had 40,000 Hydrogen Bombs.
I further read that since the 1950's
the Arab Israeli wars have been a major source of both sides going on nuclear alerts. I also read that the Americans have
10,000 H-bombs at present. And the Russians have 15,000 H-bombs. Certainly enough to do the job!
Israel, India,
Pakistan and North Korea all have atom bombs of their own as well.
People will be saying Peace and Safety just before
the world is destroyed in judgment.
In the Army in 1978 I had the understanding that war in the Middle East would
lead to Nuclear Armageddon.
It is still amazing to me that conditions in such a small nation like Israel would
bring about the end of the world. Or that even the invention of the "horseless carriage" by Ford in the previous
century and the need for Middle Eastern oil would also make the Middle East and its oil the focus of the Western Powers
in these times. Jerusalem is a Holy City to three faiths that do not really get along-Christianity, Judaism and Islam. All
in all we have the makings of an explosive situation.

My mom and I were watching
historical documentaries of the US Atomic bombing of Hiroshima in WW II: HIROSHIMA, a BBC Video, and Enola Gay, A History
Channel Video. As I was observing the videos of the horrible injuries inflicted upon those who were not vaporized by
the bomb, the Spirit spoke this Scripture into my heart:
THIS IS THE PLAGUE WITH WHICH THE LORD WILL STRIKE ALL
THE NATIONS THAT FOUGHT AGAINST JERUSALEM: "THEIR FLESH WILL ROTWHILE THEY ARE STILL STANDING ON THEIR FEET,
THEIR EYES WILL ROT IN THEIR SOCKETS, AND THEIR TONGUES WILL ROT IN THEIR MOUTHS."
(Zech. 14:12, NIV)
This is a prophecy of Armageddon. But Hiroshima was just a small sample of the disaster that Jesus
Christ will punish the world with for going to war against him.
In the video, one woman said that the new Hydrogen bombs
are hundreds of times more powerful than the atom bomb that destroyed Hiroshima.
And in the video, they did show that
the eyes of some of the survivors had been melted out of their sockets like in Zechariah's prophecy. The skin of
some peoples' faces were fused together. That was due to the intense and sudden heat of the blast. Some were killed as
they stood on their feet and their silhouettes were burned into the walls of surviving nearby concrete buildings! Many were
vaporized by the intense heat of the bomb. .A very ugly and terrible fate!
On the Saturday before the "Rapture Scare" or the "Rapture Hoax" of 1988,
I had stopped into a church service where the clergy had substituted Joel 2:30-31 for the normal reading for that day. And
it was suggestive of the gigantic nuclear mushroom cloud which follows the immense explosion an atomic bomb.
"AND I WILL SHOW WONDERS IN THE HEAVENS AND IN THE EARTH, BLOOD, FIRE, AND PILLARS OF SMOKE. THE SUN
SHALL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS, AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD, BEFORE THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD COME."
(Joel 2:30-31,KJV)
The nuclear mushroom cloud would contain all the pulverized dirt and ashes and fallout
fission fragments caused by the explosion of the atomic bomb. It would reach several miles into the sky. So, Joel must have
been prophesying of a global nuclear war that will punish the defiant human race on the day that Christ returns-The Day
of the Lord!
